I don't know how many other people suffer from this FRUSTRATING issue. It's not a form of standard Anxiety where you'll have an Anxiety Attack and it'll be over in a while, this is the kind that sticks in the back of your mind for a while and takes over your daily life.

I may appear crazy but bear with me.

I'm yet to meet someone who is similar to me. I suffered a very sudden and unexpected loss early last year of a beloved family pet (I'm aware it is "just a pet" as many people have told me) and it took a hefty toll on me as I don't think I dealt with it correctly.

Now, any twitch, tremor, bump, ache I get in my body leads me to go to Dr. Google and I convince myself I have some type of Cancer. I've gone from having Brain Tumors to Lung Cancer to Stomach cancer. The lot.

In my instance, my worrying consumes me so much that I begin to actually feel the symptoms I have read about. I then visit the doctor and he tells me everything is fine and the symptoms suddenly disappear. Then begins the worrying again..."Was the doctor right? What if he was wrong?" and we wind up back to square 0.

I find it increasingly difficult to deal with because I find I am in a constant state of fear and worry that I will have something life threatening, I find it hard to convince myself to go to the doctors "in case" I find out the worst... It's an absolute nightmare!

Any other sufferers of this?

It's common.

Go to the GP. He or she will likely prescribe SSRI.

It will help.

Go now. Today.

Yes go to the GP but SSRIs are not the only option. I suffered with anxiety for quite some time. Took SSRIs but also had counselling. The counselling really works well. The SSRIs do work but they also have some pretty unpleasant side-effects.

I've been..

I was prescribed Citalopram but that did sod all for me. Just gave me a load of crappy side effects. One lot of pills made me drop a shed of weight - The other batch made me put on a shed.

When I say put on..I mean unleashed the inner glutton in me.

I still find when going to the Dr's that they're shrugging me off, that they just assume it's anxiety when it could be worse.

Such a nutcase I know

Did you take the Cit for long enough. Takes eight weeks to kick in.

I took sertraline. First two weeks were fking awful. Then the side effects died down (mostly). Took at least 6-8 weeks before I started feeling the effects.

Surprised that the GP is throwing pills at you and not recommending counselling of some description. I self referred and paid private for counselling. It was easier for me as I have a long commute I could find someone near to work.

I suffer from this, periodically. Not as seriously as what you describe, but it's not fun.

I'm much better after some counselling and learning what helps me to manage my anxiety - which will be different for everyone.

Take care and I hope you find some resolution.
