Cracked skin around knuckles this time of year.
Discussion
If you have sensitive skin an aqueous cream is fantastic; it can be used as a substitute for soap, aswell as a moisturiser.
I have contact dermatitis on my hands which is worse in the winter; the skin on my hands bleed, crack and split awfully, due to a combination of the cold weather and being allergic to the crap in household soaps, show gels, washing up liquid etc, it can be really painful and my hands look dreadful, an aqueous cream performs wonders in just a few days, it is dirt cheap too.
You can get it from any pharmacy; from memory my current tub was £2.80 for 500ml.

Make sure you dry your hand thoroughly after washing hands. Will make a huge difference.
THIS.Oh and Lush do a hand cream in a black pot that worked when everything else didn't for me.

I usually have this pretty bad most winters (I had the steriod cream one year too), but this year they have been pretty good as I have made sure that I have looked after them.
I find that prevention is better than cure with this. Stick to these rules and it shouldn't happen in the first place.
Don't wash your hands unnecessarily and if you do, use the aqeous (sp?) cream mentioned above and makde sure you dry them completely.
Make sure you always wear gloves when you go outside, even if it doesn't feel too cold at the time.
Keep putting on e45 throughout the day.
And lastly, do not put your hands in water that is too hot (eg washing up) especially if they are cold.
