'Grit gun' polish at dentists... Wow!

Went to the dentists today. Teeth in need of a good scrub-up with a few stains etc. Hygenist did usual scraper/water pick torture and then decided the stains were too bad for the usual Polish so used a small gun which fired a gritty substance at/around the teeth.

Amazing results, albeit an unpleasant process. Like they've been whitened. No more expensive than the normal appointment either.

I find it can be so painful that I end up laughing. I mean, where else in Western Society would you pay to receive that level of pain under the guise that it's good for you and isn't some kind of sexual service?

I think waterboarding is more pleasant. Perhaps they can ship my hygienist out to Guantanamo for some part-time work. And nobody can consider it torture. Lucky prisoners would get free dental hygiene work that I have to pay for!

She chuckled. And actually commented that I was far more brave with the 'grit gun' than she was when she has it done!

They tried to use that on me last time, but it was on the blink and they eventually gave up. I expect full shotblasting services will be operational for my next appointment.

Descale and polish.

Christ, I don't mind going to the dentist, never scared me or worried me.

Couple of visits ago the hygienist really set about me, I could see fleck of blood landing on my glasses they give you to wear. My mouth was aching before she was half way through.

I got out of the chair feeling genuinely beaten. Blood and spittle covering my face, my mouth and teeth, aching, no actually hurting.

Christ my teeth were clean.

I managed to evade the dentist from my early twenties until recently in my early forties, and was subjected to a full recaptured from the wild treatment. Actually got off lightly, needed an old filling replacing and I had some gum erosion that the hygienist has been fixing. First appointment with her was a full hour. Not pleasant, but certainly had clean teeth afterwards!

Ah, I had forgotten about that! I think the dental thing is slightly more painful, though.

The last time I went to the dentist he gave me two black eyes.

I was having a bone graft in advance of an implant. I genuinely thought he was joking until, sure enough, two days later...

The actual procedure wasn't too bad. I had a bone bank block "installed" rather than harvesting some of my own bone.

The stage where he effectively scraped my gum off my bone to cut the space for the graft was... Unexpected and quite brutal. I was deeply concerned about the cutting and screwing of bone, but that was hardly noticeable in comparison.

However, the two weeks of swelling and the almost a month of pain afterwards was the worst part.

And I'm now still waiting for the graft to heal before the post can be put in...

I once left Mrs-C to organise some stuff for me whilst I was away. Was only going to be home for a few days so she was ruthlessly efficient about timings ... I had 15 minutes between the dental hygienist and a proper no holds barred sports massage.

She seemed quite please with herself. She picked me up afterwards and we stopped on the way home for a pint and she kept asking why I was so quiet
