Nothing alarming, just bloody irritating and wondered if something was going around.

Started last Saturday night, got a bit of a cough and woke up on the Sunday morning feeling pretty rough. Headache, very sore throat, the runs, feverish.

Spent the day in bed sleeping, which is unusual for me, but got up in the evening to take my daughter to a gig.

Monday and Tuesday, I was bed ridden and had the extra inconvenience of night sweats. Would awake absolutely soaked and needed towels and change of bed linen.

Wednesday I awoke feeling much improved, if a little weak, and thought that it was all over. Spent the day getting stuff done, walking from place to place.

Thursday and I feel worse and the cough is back with a vengeance. Last night I must of woken up 5 times absolutely soaked plus my nose starts running.

Today I feel as ste as I did last Monday.

I normally knock these things on the head after a couple of days and it's been a few years since I have had more than a sniffle.

Luckily I have had no work this week but what a waste of the decent weather. Today I have spent on the sofa, alternatively getting hot or shivering. At least I can see the blue sky smile

As I said, just wondering if something is on the loose (apart from my bottom).

Cheers.

If it's any consolation I'm 4 days into the same and still feel pretty rough. Can't remember having anything like this before, usually brush things off.

Yup - been there, done that. First time in my life that I've ended up taking a week off sick. It's a sort of head cold/flu combo and I'm still not right 10 days later.

Me too - but left ear frown

A week (and course of antibiotics) later and I'm still half deaf in it with no sign of improvement? Have been back to GP and now on a steroid spray to reduce inflammation of ear canal. Not working so far!

One of my colleagues has had exactly what you describe for the last week, including the recovery then relapse. She looked like death. There's a lot of it about...

I'm currently on day 4 of something similar; very feverish but that's improving, achy, very tired and generally feeling like crap.

Day 9 now and still don't feel right. Came home from work at lunchtime yesterday and slept until 9pm.

Whatever I eat, whether soup and crackers or more substantial stuff comes out as mush. Sorry TMI

I had exactly the same the other week, and absolute humdinger of night sweats waking up soaked, sore throat etc. But strangely not a lot of blowing of nose required. Also had kidney pain in the aftermath which has just disappeared. A real nasty one.

Oddly reassuring that I'm not (wasn't) alone. Had this a few weeks ago - took a while to shift. Night sweats the worst I've ever had.

Shame thing over here if helps - was off work for two days, but headaches and roughness all week.

Felt fine for 3 days, and now its back again.

Still experiencing fevers a week on. Back to work, though. Saves on heating I guess.

Had a raging sore throat which moved around left to right and back then finally ended up in the wisdom teeth root area. Cough as well loads of phlegm. Aches and hot. Lasted about 4 weeks, had a week of feeling about 80% now got aches back and chesty cough with uncontrollable shivers at about 3 in the morning. Finally relented and went to the docs and he reckoned that it was one of the "new" strain of viruses that come around and he said that there were a couple of beauties on the loose. Just said to keep cannonballing the ibuprofen and paracetamol.1 week into the second bout now.

I had the tooth pain and jaw ache too. Thought it was my root canal playing up.
