Recommend me a knee brace for older family member
Discussion
Looking for a recommendation for a knee brace for the Mrs' Granded, he has Arthritis but recently has been experiencing some pretty bad knee pain which is limiting his mobility somewhat.
Could you recommend me a decent knee brace that can help support him and enable him to walk without so much pain? He is about 5ft 8 and 85kg. I'm not sure if having a hinge will help or not, what's the benefit of this?
Any links would be appreciated. Thanks all.

I use the simple neoprene ones for my knees when ski-ing which I find to be great support. not too heavy and still allows the knees to bed naturally. Lots of people with bad knees try these to start and then move on to more sophisticated ones if they don't feel they give all the support they need.
I gave one to a friend of my dad's who was in his mid 80's and had arthritic knee problems. He found it gave him the right support but wasn't too heavy or complicated. I think he found the idea of ones with more of a frame a bit worrying; he had bad hips too so was worried about causing pain elsewhere if his walking style changed.
try a neoprene one first; if its no good I'd suggest it would be worth taking your dad to somewhere like snow and rock which fit and adjust them so that he can try them before you buy.

I use a McDavid hinged support.
I suffer from hypermobility and despite the hypermobility forum suggesting (before I was banned for offering help)I should be sat on my arse feeling depressed and claiming disability, I was able to play ice hockey and currently do weightlifting
