shoulder/arm pain plus 'pins and needles'

ok before you say I will get a gp appointment this coming week - if I can

started about four weeks ago with pain in my right shoulder blade - then progressed to 'pins and needles' in my hand when my arm is in certain positions, eg typically using a computer mouse or driving when my arm is nearly horizontal with the steering wheel

I'm guessing some form of repetitive stress syndrome?

Sounds like a trapped nerve to me. Get to the Docs as they will prescribe some interesting drugs for you, don't forget to ask about physio as well.
