Getting rid of a persistent cough
Discussion
I was sick a couple of months ago. Nothing critical but properly unwell for a few days - temperature, aches, pains etc. It all cleared up fine but left me with quite a bad cough, where i was still coughing up mucus a few weeks later. Went to see the doc at work (we have one on-site) about three weeks ago and was given a week long course of antibiotics (amoxycillin). This helped considerably but the cough is now back - not as bad but debilitating - i can't run or cycle without descending into a coughing fit as my pulse starts to rise. Other than the cough i don't feel unwell, a little tired maybe but i tend to put that down to jet-lag (I travel a lot) but the fact I can't exercise is irritating. I'd appreciate any thoughts on things I should / shouldn't be going or do i just give it time? Thanks in advance.
That s
t's going around - had it twice this year which isn't handy for someone running their own customer-facing business. Probably your immune system is not perfect; I reckon the amoxycillin just happened to coincide with you getting better. Are you getting enough sleep? Are you pushing too hard with work or exercise or even partying too hard?
That's my thinking, anyway.

Given what I've been through at the start of this year I'd say get back down the doctors. After a lengthy series of tests I've now been diagnosed with sarcoidosis but lymphoma (cancer) has a similar symptom profile so I spent most of Jan/Feb/March sh*tting myself that I had cancer.
All started from a chesty cough I couldn't shift back in November followed by a chest X-Ray. Fortunately the cough has now gone.
There's probably nothing wrong with you but get it checked out none the less

I've had this recently. Cleared eventually after a dose of antibiotics, although I suspect this was coincidental. Lasted 5 weeks in total. Drink lots of fluid. I found inhaling Olbas oil vapour / steam helped.
However, get to the Docs, just to rule out anything more sinister. You may get referred for a chest Xray.
