Following on from the "How to find a good Doctor" thread...

We have just moved house and I need to get a new dentist. The issue is that the last few dentists I have had have been completely incompetent and I want a good one. I see no value in paying large amounts of money for an uncomfortable solution that is markedly worse that the position I walkied in the door with.

Because of this I'm nervous aboout making the right choice. I'm not a nervous patient in the chair, I just want someone that knows what they're doing and doesn't make things worse. The last two dentists had a wonderfully professional looking set up but were rubbish. The bugger is that I know something's not right but I doint want to ge

Are there any basic things I sholud look for or it is going to be a combination of recommendations and pot luck? I would prefer NHS as I'm poor but the right person is more important. I have the option of paying for private dental insurance at work through Denplan which will be considered if necessary.
