Nearly 3 weeks ago someone ran into the back of me which resulted in quite a hefty hit (me stationary them 25-30mph)

I was in a long wheelbase sprinter and them a transit van, both vans written off.

a few weeks before this I had hurt my back from a small biking fall, but I had felt fully ok from this for maybe 7-10 days prior to the accident.

Immediately after the crash my lower back (a slightly different place than before) and neck were stiff but not sore. Didn't go to hospital but the next morning could not move my neck, shoulder, knee or bend over without significant pain. Taken to dr's who signed me off and subscribed painkillers.

Managed to take a few days off and got into physio, he sorted me out and although I was still sore I got some movement back so went to work and took over all paperwork duties and then another week later started doing the driving too - releasing the secretary and driver to work in the workshop.

Now I have most movement back in my neck, knee still sore but walking ok, shoulder very stiff - but my back is still very sore. When I am up I am ok, when I am sitting I am ok, walking ok too - but bending and lifting anything is causing me problems.

Dr's say rest but keep moving - work is getting massively behind and I am getting really fed up with the situation, both dr's and physio are saying it will be at least another 4 -6 weeks until I can ride again and much longer until I am back to where I was.

Is there anything I can try that will speed things up? I have been given stretch exercises from the physio no that I do morning, lunchtime and before bed.
Relaxing at night I am swapping between freeze gel and hot water bottles. It all helps but then I feel crap again in the morning - but I am sleeping ok!
Would swimming help - physio says yes, Dr no.

Anyone been in a similar and found something that helped? I just want to be back to normal frown

From what I'm reading, you appear to be in a hurry to recover..These things take time.
Lifting should be a no no, anti-inflammatories might help.

As for swimming, this can be done at your own pace, there's no need to dive in and swim 50 lengths. Do a few gentle (and I mean gentle) aerobics in the shallow end and see how you feel afterwards - You like look like a bit of a 'nana but who cares smile

Everyone says give it time, but it's really starting to get to me.

I'm grumpy, fed up and sore!

I've been off work for a week with my back and going mad. I've watched so much tv it's scary and bloody boring after a while.

I'm actually missing work!
