I started running a few months ago to try and get back into vague shape. I run maybe 4 morning a week 3-4miles @ 9:30 per mile so gentle jog really. I think Strava is great but would like to increase speed/ distance towards a 10k then maybe HM. What I've been looking for is an app which has a training plan and live coaching, so audio cues to motivate and guide through interval training.

Has anyone found anything good like that?

Have you tried Runkeeper? It's got the live cues and I think it suggests training plans

I've not used a app apart from run keeper which is good. Set it to update you at whatever intervals you like then you can keep a track of your speed. I use it every 0.5 mile.

As for going further / faster. Mix up your runs try to go at your pace a little further one run, do a shorter faster pace run another and throw in some interval training. Lamp posts are good for that sprint to one then jog to the next and repeat. That will soon have you blowing out of your backside.

Or if you want a set plan look at the Couch to 5k plan, obviously you can do that. However they do a 5-10k training plan which I can't remember the name of worth a look.

Most importantly don't rush it.

I believe the Nike+ app might have the features you're looking for. I haven't used it for a few years, but remember you could choose a distance and the app set up a training programme for you.
