Knee Arthroscopy Op......
Discussion
Well this is the 2nd Operation of this type that i have had on the same knee due to me tearing my cartilage.
Basically on Monday 2nd Op went ahead to sort out the cartilage again (meniscus tear) as it seems to have split even more and is interfering with the mechanics of me knee
From what i remember two years ago this operation has seemed to hurt my knee a hell of a lot more than before and its a weird pain slight dull but sometimes sharp is the only way i can describe the constant discomfort of it, took me three months to actually get better and walk on it properly, when the usual time is between 2-6 weeks for this operation.
I have had my leg up and rested with minimal movement obviously with trips to the loo and the bedroom when i've gone to bed.
The issue that ive got happened last night in that when i got up to go to bed my knee made a weird 'crunching noise/feeling' with what can only be described as a huge bolt of pain going up the inside of my knee. Limped to the bedroom but thought nothing of it until this morning. Got up and wandered into the front room and the exact same thing has happened to me again with a shooting pain going up the inside of my knee with a weird 'crunching feeling'
Any one else thats gone through this is this anything to worry about? Sods law i went and saw the doctor to get signed off from work on the Wednesday when everything felt like it was okay lol
Anyone else had this kind of issue after this op at all?

Not exactly the same issues as you but i'll share my brief story.
Due to medial plica and ITB issues I had a double arthroscopy and open surgery in one op a few years back. Much the same as you it took a long time to be able to move it and I was a bit worried as the timeframes they mentioned came and went with no improvement.
Over the next year or two I had many scans and hospital visits as I was in pain, the dull pain with shoots of agony every now and then.
Many things were tried to resolve my issues but none worked.
I was given a diagnosis in the end of Complex Regional Pain Syndrome.
I still have the same issues now but have done a lot of pain management and can live my life fairly normally although I struggle with pain some days.
Not necessarily saying you have the same thing but if it doesn't improve in time and they find no obvious issues it may have been worth me writing this to point towards it.

I had an arthroscopy around seven years ago, dispensed with the crutch several hours later, and was back at work after 2 days.
Been OK since, no problems.
The same knee has started playing up about six months ago, but the pain is bearable, I don't really want any more "work" on it, unless it is really desperate.

Thanks guys
The only reason I have had it done again is due to me walking 4 miles in total every day to work. Started playing up a again in late 2014 and was causing significant pain. It might go away hopefully but its the weirdest sensation and as I said before i never had it with the first operation....besides its only 4 days after the operation anyways so i might be worrying about nothing

I've had the dubious pleasure of having had 14 arthroscopies ( and 2 open knee ops/ arthrotomies) over some 30 years now and each one was different - some I was walking pretty normally almost the next day; others took quite a while to calm down in terms of pain and swelling and to " unstiffen". Biggest thing is to really do the physio properly - the more disciplined you are with that, the quicker the knee recovers and the better it is in the long term
It'll probably be ok, but keep an eye on it, ice it and rest it. If it persists tell the doc in case there is another bit that has somehow come loose.
The holes in my knee where cartilage used to be mean that the knee doesn't operate smoothly any more, and it clunks and clicks like a good'un going up and down stairs, but it's not really painful most of the time and, most importantly, after 30 odd years from the first big op I still have what's left of my knee and haven't had to go for a knee replacement yet.
Im off skiing next month as we do most years which isn't bad for someone who was told to give up all sports at 19 (35 years ago) to make my knee last after the first big knee issue. Best of luck

14 operations?! blimey!
Yeah resting it as much as i can at the moment foot up and putting ice on it
Got pain killers from the hospital but loathed to continue to take them all the time as its never the best idea in my opinion
Have got to visit the hospital again next week anyways so they can check up on me and how im getting on after the knee op (Totally forgot about this lol) so will mention it to them whats happening and hopefully they will be able to put my mind at rest
