Wasn't actually that bad when I did it TBH as they guy that broke it was a paramedic and managed to pull and straighten my foot before I lost the blood supply (and potentially my foot). The word 'shiiiiiiiiiit' played through my mind as I looked at it.

Most painful part was in A and E having it realigned before temporary cast fitted. Even though I had some morphine and gas and air it was murder.
Just now the sorest thing is when I first stand up ( on my good leg) the blood rushes to my sore one and the return circulation is bad due to swelling and bruising so pressure builds up. Only lasts 30s before it clears itself but it's horrendous.
Just the long rehab process to go through now.
I was diagnosed with terminal cancer in June 2014 and given 12 weeks, part of the problem was a tumour in my femur,docs were worried it would snap and I had a femur nail inserted, massive bolt thro the hip and then 2 bolts just above the knee, amazingly I was up and walking the next morning and getting a b
king from Phisio cos they hadn't been and showed me how to use crutches!!!
I suppose I was lucky as very little pain and its been good up to now although the last couple of days its been having a bit of a shout
Thank god for our NHS when you need them they are tops and have kept me alive with some fantastic treatment

These are today healed well I think and I couldn't fault the doctors and nurses it's the only time I've had to use the NHS (except GP) and they were fantastic.
The ankle cut was opened three times as somehow one of the bottom screws snapped.
Good luck with yours I played a hell of a lot of PS3 games!!!!

Thanks for that. My knee and ankle are murder just now (only 3 weeks) but trying to do Physio and stretching my Achilles and doing quad exercise or even getting in and out of bed my knee kind of locks and the pain is murder.

I know it's early and I may be pushing too much.
I was also told 50% of people will get knee pain and require the rod and pins to be removed and of that 50% a further 50% will still have pain even after rod removed.
Back in just under 3 weeks to fracture clinic to see how it's healing.
Left thigh is like a twiglet.

I couldn't kneel on my left knee due to the pain that was the main reason to take the pin out.
Stick with it its early yet i can't remember when my physio appointments started have they suggested this to you?
