I know very little about this guy, some of my friends have started doing his plan.
I have bought my wife his cook book.
Is this just a gimmick, marketing ploy or does anyone have any decent results?
Has anyone on PH looked into him or signed up?
He seems to be taking social media by storm at the moment, and his marketing campaign is working!

I have just had this inflicted on me by the missus who's followed him on social media and picked up the book half price at the weekend
The before and after pics of his disciples in their smalls are all really quite striking
As a complete novice to the guy his recipes look good but all contain meat, which I suppose is the point of his brand of faddishness
(Much as I love a steak I dont eat much meat for various reasons)
The biggie for me is that it appears to be a modified Atkins in so much as its very low on carbohydrate* but with the added gimmick of high intensity training (HIT)
HIT is something I am very familiar with and which has been demonstrated to improve cardio fitness but Im struggling to see how it facilitates fat burning
HIT = short intense sessions conventionally thought to burn carbs
Steady running/jogging/cycling/walking = conventionally thought to burn fat
^^^ this is probably an oversimplification
Anyway I have decided its not for me which caused a minor domestic earlier this evening
We're all in it together or something which I hadnt realised

- carbohydrate = bread, pasta, cake, chips and beer. Take me to Dignitas immediately if I can no longer enjoy these

Haha thanks for the amusing post! My wife also shows me the before and afters but this is a very flawed way of showing results. The before and after pics of his disciples in their smalls are all really quite striking

I have been into fitness for a while and I understand the basics of different types of cardio and nutrition.
I was just wondering if this guy has found something that others are not aware of, I personally feel you should never pay for nutrition and workout advice as it is readily available online for free!
So a Keto diet with HIIT training is what has made this bloke £millions and have thousands of people willing to pay him hundreds of pounds?
There is plenty of evidence to show that HIIT training is very good at burning fat.
The diet part is basically low carb and carbs are restricted to only after exercise.
It is do with insulin. You want a spike of insulin after you exercise to deliver glycogen to the muscles, but at other times it will deposit fat.
I think a lot of his popularity is based around being able to eat a lot of food, so not a calorie restricted diet but if you want some carbs you have to earn them with a workout.

OK so a very basic idea that he has managed to market well then! The diet part is basically low carb and carbs are restricted to only after exercise.

No need for my wife to spend hundreds of £'s

Technically, no. The age old formula of calories in Vs calories out works. If however this system plus the 'personality' behind it works for her and gets her motivated and she's getting results, then it sounds like money well spent. No need for my wife to spend hundreds of £'s

No I don't think so. The book contains the majority of the plans design anyway, the rest you can fill in. Its very similar to carb cycling that a lot of body builders use. I have been using a similar thing myself. I had one of those DNA tests done and that showed that I have a high sensitivity to carbs and should restrict them. I try to avoid where I can an only eat after workouts.I don't be grudge the man, he has a personality and I am sure he has encouraged a lot of people to lose weight but I think the plan is a bit of a rip off.
Part of it is the recipes. Quick, easy to make, healthy. I'd probably eat twice the volume, though, and follow it up with a packet of crisps to make sure I'm eating enough calories for my training.
It's like Insanity or P90X or countless other popular systems. Follow the food guide, follow the training, gain the results, get bored, start eating fun food again, lose the results.

Any PHers doing his 9am classes on YouTube with their kids? If you weren't aware he is streaming a live PE lesson to the nation (and indeed, globally) at 9am every weekday morning whilst everyone is at home because of the Corona virus.
I had previously written him off as a bit of a shouty attention seeker, but he's doing a brilliant thing. 860,000 YouTube viewers live this morning, quite incredible.

My children are doing them. I work and referee the children (it quickly becomes cage fighting PE in our house ) whilst it is on. Any PHers doing his 9am classes on YouTube with their kids? My wife was doing it. I was knackered just watching it.Any PHers doing his 9am classes on YouTube with their kids? If you weren't aware he is streaming a live PE lesson to the nation (and indeed, globally) at 9am every weekday morning whilst everyone is at home because of the Corona virus.

We've been doing it each day. Great start for the kids, and the Mrs is doing it too. Not sure how getting people active is a load of tosh?
It is absolutely fine for just moving about, but there is no sense to it. It is great that people are doing it, but it is no better than any similar thing by any online PT. As someone else said, there are plenty of PTs out there that desperately need business.Gassing Station | Health Matters | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
