Guts problem when running!
Discussion
Sorry for the poo related topic!
Hopefully the wonders of PH could shed some light on a problem I have.
If I run for over 45 minutes, I get a lot of gas building up, just above my bumdoor and it can involve some pretty crippling cramps. When I sprint to a loo, a load of the gas rushes out followed by some of the most horrific smelling semi sold (maybe 70 solid : 30 not solid) poo.
Diet doesn't seem to affect it at all. Is it a case of as I run I'm sloshing stuff about and it just gets agitated through my digestive system faster?
I'm in totally fine health otherwise, the only constant I can find is the length of time training. I had it on 1/2 marathon and marathon last year or so too.
Any ideas why?

Try buying Fybogel (http://www.pharmacyfix.co.uk/products/fybogel-orange-sachets?utm_medium=cpc&utm_source=googlepla&variant=4259457413&gclid=COLBofO_wsoCFWsJwwod548Ldw
This is a fibre additive I know it seems counter intuitive, but it has helped a couple of people I know with runners trots.
Fairly common I am afraid.
Good Luck

Something i've suffered from for a long time...... out of curiosity, when you finish running is the skin on your stomach cold to the touch? I had noticed that my stomach felt ice cold to the touch yet obvioulsy the rest of me was roasting and sweating.
Bit of research led to a few articles that alluded to the fact that digestive processes can be reduced during running (can't quite remember the full scientific explanations) and it can lead to the symptoms you describe. I went through a good while of planning runs based on toilet locations as the cramps were agony and always feared the worst, thankfully never happened!!
Anyway, one article said that physically patting your stomach from time to time to encourage blood flow can help... thought it was rubbish and not saying it's perhaps not slightly placebo effect but definitely feel like it's helped me massively.
Generally runs up to 30-45 minutes i'm always fine... 1hr plus i used to consistently have the issue but doesn't seem to bother me much anymore with the exception of runs first thing in the morning where i can still have issues.
The articles also talked about focussing breathing and aiming to breathe at certain points of your stride but to be honest i couldn't really manage it... managing to breathe at all when i'm running any kind of semi respectable pace can be hard enough!
Worth giving it a go, as i've said perhaps slightly placebo for me but regardless has helped!
