Suitable for eye laser surgery?

Hello all,

Is it possible to say if, based on the attached, my partner could have eye laser surgery? If so, any idea on costs? We are in the south west.

Would need to know lots more variables like your age, but I'm guessing as you wear reading glasses you're over 40+. If so then I wouldn't advise laser eye surgery at all as it won't reliably make you spectacle independent. It'll correct your distance vision but not your close vision.

Then certainly don't have laser refractive surgery, consider lens replacement surgery but do see someone who has expertise in the area.

So she'd just need reading glasses but distance would be OK? She'd be happy with that.

Don't. It'd be a waste of money as within 10-15 years she may need cataract surgery which will be more unpredictable in terms of outcome because of the laser refractive surgery. She'd be far better off getting lens replacement surgery.

It's a day case procedure under local anaesthetic and is the same as cataract surgery but in this case the natural lens is removed and replaced prior to significant cataract development. Costs vary but upwards of £2500 per eye is the norm.

Surgery also requires a stable prescription (at least 2 years).
