I take a 75mg tablet a day. A pack of 28 are about 58p in Wilko. But today they have a pack of 28 300mg tablets for 20p.
Can I buy those and cut them into 4? That way I reduce my bill to 7p/month. Or doesn't it work like that, maybe the aspirin isn't evenly distributed thru the pill?
I don't want to jeopardise my health, but a saving of that magnitude isn't to be sneezed at!

The prophylactic aspirins I (used to) take are 75mg and enterically coated to prevent stomach irritation. Are these coated?
I stopped taking them because the evidence for doing so is weak for people with no history of cardio-vascular disease apparently, and a haemorrhagic stroke would be worsened by aspirin. After years of 75mg daily I reduced to two days between and then nil after a surgical procedure necessitated a hiatus anyway.

k it, I'll just stick to the 75mg at 58p. Spend spend spend, that's my motto. Riley Blue said:

I assume you're getting free prescriptions. You could always throw financial caution to the wind and just go crazy and spend 58p a month each and buy them. Then you can ensure they are coated, as it says so on the box.

I would have thought that uncoated ones would start to dissolve immediately whereas coated ones would allow time for them to be washed down into the stomach with a drink.TwigtheWonderkid said:

When I was diligently taking my daily 75mg, if I cut myself I bled like a stuck pig! That, and the adverse publicity, led me to take a typically on-the-fence view and reduce the dose to every other day. No medic I spoke to, and my son is one such and never shrinks from frightening the pants off me, could argue against my logic. If none is okay, and daily is okay, bi-daily MUST be good because it offers some protection and less risk. Ergo, it was 75mg every second day for years. Only when I had my apple cored (prostate re-bored) was I obliged to stop for a duration, did the habit become broken. Mine all started when I had Bell's palsy and was referred by my neurologist (BUPA) ordered an MRI. That showed no sign of strokes, mini or otherwise, but did show age related micro ischaemic areas. These are almost universal at the age I was at the time so not a bad sign, but Mr Expensive neurologist had an aspirin golden rule - take 'em! If I hadn't been in BUPA then I wouldn't have even seen a neurologist, let alone had an MRI, for what was obviously Bell's, but the private medicine club is profit centred.
