I was born 40 years ago today (10 weeks early) at Raigmore Hospital in Inverness. It is thanks to the NHS nurses who kept me alive that I am here today. Very grateful.
I'm a bit younger than you but I was pretty lucky with some great nurses working hard in a good maternity ward. I was sad when I heard that that ward had been closed and demolished. It was state of the art (or so I've heard) when I was born.
