Much weaker left arm
Discussion
So finally after years of being a fatty I decided to do something about it. Diet, exercise etc. This year I have joined gym (Pilates prior 14 months also). An I note my left arm is much weaker than my right arm. Basically goes like this.
Set 1 - 12.5kg left an Right
Set 2 - 12.5kg Left can manage 6 right could do more but stop so doing same both arms
Set 3 - 12.5kg - left 4 only right again could do more easily
So should I use lighter weights left arm to build endurance, split the set so do 4 and come back an do 4 more (I have found I can do this after maybe 10 mins) or stick with current 3 sets with decreasing reps?
Similar happens with bar fly an shoulder press though not as much as when doing arm curl

When I decided to start getting fit again, I bought one of Kelly Brook's fitness DVDs - worked for me, although I now can't get my right arm into any of my clothes....
More seriously, I'm in a similar position having damaged my left rotator cuff after doing a face / shoulder plant into the sea bed off a surfboard. Did it years ago and followed the bloke approved route back to fitness of drinking more beer and hoping it would go away, only for it to pop up years later when belatedly re entering the gym.
I have issues with bench presses or press ups as the left arm basically gives away once at a decent weight and have been having Physio for a couple of months to address this. That hasn't really worked so I'm off to see a shoulder man ( is that like a more kinky leg man?) shortly to have it properly looked at as it may need an op.
I can do everything else e.g. Lateral work or whatever but I struggle with anything involving real pushing on that side.
Good luck

X hamster may explain the imbalance lol that or 4 breaks to left wrist as a child plus recent disc damage affecting unleray never in left arm an shoulder lol. Thanks guys in think the answer is work to limit of left an stick at it. Fact is I have lost 16kg since Jan anyway to going well
I did 'cheat' reps to help equalise strength in my left arm.
Do as many 'clean' reps as you can, and when you hit a point where you struggle give the arm some momentum with the legs/put a swing into the lift and then lower the weight slowly as you would normally.
You're not a rarity, a friend of mine had one calf 2" thicker than the other!
