I have had a pain in my wrist/hand for about a week. I went to A&E on Monday, they took 4 x-rays, no fractures. The only thing different that I can think of over the past few weeks is that I have been using a new electric bike. I wonder whether the different angle of my body, or hand/wrist, or the vibration from the handlebars is causing this?
The hospital gave me a splint to wear, but it doesn't seem to be making much difference. I am taking occasional Paracetamol, should I try Ibuprofen on a regular basis?
Could it be RSI?

Are you getting slightly tingly finger ends too?
If so it could be the beginnings of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. I have started with this since getting a different bike. I did a century very slowly with a big group and with all the breakdowns and punctures (I had 4) it was a marathon 14 hours in the saddle!
My hands felt like they would drop off and my fingers were numb. I initially blamed crap gloves and binned them but the feeling didn't come back to my finger ends until 2 months later! Now on longer rides I suffer a little hand pain and have to consciously change grip on the bars regularly.

And this question helps the OP how exactly?
It's not supposed to - unless it makes him think twice in future. Given the pressures on A&E services that are constantly documented in the media, and given that this was neither an accident nor an emergency, I'd like to know why he thought attending an A&E department was necessary. Having a painful wrist for a week sounds like an extremely poor reason.zeDuffMan said:

What's your suggestion? Ring 111? Take up a GP's time (who will probably send you to A&E or leave you in pain for another week until you go back)?
Is 3 weeks long enough? 4?

A walk in centre or a minor injuries unit. Basically anywhere where they don't send people who are very unwell. If you've left it a week without seeking treatment, A&E is NOT the correct place. If he couldn't move his hand I think a trip to A&E sounds sensible.

I don't disagree but PH would be a better place if we focus on helping op's rather than seeking to criticise. PH seems to be full of Witchfinder Generals these days.
If it makes people think twice then it's worth it.If it doesn't then people are morons and can never, ever complain about having to wait to be seen in the NHS ever again, as they are contributing to the problem as much as anybody else. If your mum is sat on a trolley in the corridor for 5 hours with a broken hip, that's too bad.

I explained that I thought that the most likely scenario was that i had ACCIDENTally injured myself whilst on my bike. Now, without being grumpy, when zeDuffMan has finished moralising, does he have any helpful advice regarding my problem?

Sorry, I must have missed the bit where you fell off your bike just before attending A&E. Now, without being grumpy, when zeDuffMan has finished moralising, does he have any helpful advice regarding my problem?
A minor injuries unit is the ideal place to go for a week old injury.
Use the splint and rest your wrist. It won't get better if you don't immobilise it and it doesn't use magic, so it will take more than a couple of days.
If there is soft tissue injury the ibuprofen may help.
If it's still painful after 6 weeks ask your GP to refer you to orthopaedics.

A & E have given me an appointment to go back in 2 weeks time for a follow up.
Update
Appointment In Fractures Clinic of Orthopaedic Department. Saw specialist, the scafoid(?) bone is not fractured. I was referred to Physiotherapy straight away who has given me exercises to do and a follow up appointment in a couple of weeks.
It still hurts, varies from day to day. Taking Ibuprofen for pain relief and inflammation reduction.
V. Good service from NHS, I saw the specialist and was sent round to physio. dept. and was finished and on my way home within 30 minutes of my appointment time.
