Is there anyway to counteract the sexual side effects of SSRI's, specifically Sertraline?

I would think the simplest solution is to change to a different anti depressant that doesn't have this effect.
Have you spoken to your GP about it?

I really should I know however whenever i've looked into it i've always found that they all do this apart from Mirtazapine however the side effect of that is that it knocks you out and makes you really sleepy.

I'm on fluoxetine and (I can't believe I'm sharing this) they have the same effect on me.

I haven't spoke to the GP about it either but for the reason that I fear changing meds in case they don't work as well an I fall I the hole again, so I feel your pain.

I'd still go and see your GP though.
You never know.

Zyban will counteract it, it's prescribed for stopping smoking but the downside is a) if you smoke then the fags will taste like st and b) you only get it for 2 weeks

Other than that, change to something else. Venlafaxine was fine for me, though I took a while longer to arrive at the destination, sometimes giving up and going to make a snack instead

just my 2pc but when taking citalopram i noticed once depression had lifted that i had a much lower sex drive. Speaking to the Dr I was told often its not just the drugs but depression itself that changes your desier.

7 years on I still take citalopram daily, I am depression free but feel I am better on the meds, my sex drive is lower but I am 37 now etc.

I look at it like this before I went bat st crazy I liked drinking (alot) smoking (alot) and shagging in the end I tried to kill myself and thus without the help of family Dr's and the medication I would not be here today.

I dont drink, I dont smoke, I have a low sex drive, I am alive an have two wonderful children (which I had post getting depression)

unless its a massive issue just accept it as a package of changes in your life fix the depression and the other issue will resolve or not but you wil be alive an happy

I haven't taken SSRI's but have found that D-Aspartic acid does interesting things to my Test production. Cheap, and only an amino acid so cannot do any harm. Apparently it is a precursor of testosterone. In the limited amount of tests, it has upped levels by 142%.

I had a chat to my doctor and asked to change pills. He was reluctant to despite the side effects I was complaining about. In the end he lowered the dosage, rather reluctantly. It worked for the side effects and there was no noticeable difference to the symptoms.

The loser dosage made me feel more inclined towards exercise and I then walked a lot more. I did wonder whether it was the exercise that helped me.

Really? I have low testosterone. Currently taking a gel every day. Got an appointment with a spesh, because one of the other hormones which tell the body to produce T is very low. Not sure if that will mean long term T gel. I do feel better on T, both upstairs and downstairs if you know what I mean.

Might give this stuff ago then. Assume you can get it from MP or similar?

It's quite easily available and cheap from most supplement suppliers. I recommended it to a mate who gets benefit from it too. Doesn't taste brilliant if you get the powder but you don't need much of it.

Yes found it thanks. Read a article which says it increases lutinziene (sp?) hormone as well, pretty sure that is the one of mine that is very low.

Will try it.

Most of those supplements taste gopping. Creatine and beta-alanine are horrid. Hold nose, down, done.
