struggled to know where on the forums to put this one. I've always shunned the idea of getting rid of my quite extensive back and shoulder hair removed, but now could be the time to sort it. So, PH collective... if you do this then how do you do it? I definitely don't want it to be itchy... makes my scin crawl at the thought!!

Scin?

Laser would be the best option.

Wax. You'll need someone to do it, obviously. It probably won't even come back.

Yes, on weekends it's "Mary". biggrin

Yeah, wax it. My wife used to do one of her old school friends years ago and he was really hairy and he was fine with it.

I get mine done sporadically (ie when I can be bothered) at my S-i-L's salon and it smarts a bit but doesn't really 'hurt' as such. Just take a leather belt to bite into and you'll be fine thumbup

not scared of the pain of waxing, it's more the endless weeks of weird sensation and itching as the hair grows back that scares me... does that only happen with shaving? I tried shaving my chest once when i was 18... never never again!!! If it's not a possibility then it's off I pop to get it done!

Can't say that I have ever noticed it to be honest.

some of the body shavers will leave 2mm so it should itch as it grows back if that would be acceptable

Waxing is the best way. By all accounts it grows back softer and thinner each time until you hardly ever have to do it anymore. That said, the OH did mine a while back. Not too painful but then what happened was I seemed to develop what can only be described as teenage acne all over my back. Took days for it to go away. Obviously something wasn't done quite right, but I'm not sure what.

My daughter does mine and the angel wings sting when they are waxed off. The itching is not so much there after but I do come up in a rash and some may get a few spots from upsetting the skin which eventually go. Feels so great clean and smooth after though, got to be done.

Waxing obviously. Back and eyebrows every 6 weeks

One of these.

Given its for the back you might need a hand. Best thing is, unlike shaving will not cause ingrown hairs, if you scrub skin for first few days after using it.

Shave it, when it comes back to 2mm zap it with a laser over and over again until it gets fed up and doesn't come back.
You can buy your own on Amazon.
If you don't laser it it's a job for life if you like that sort of thing.

My wife seemed hell bent on waxing my neck rather than my back which was bloody painful so I stopped letting her. Still let her use a hair removal cream, that just takes a few minutes without any pain. It does mean the hair just grows straight back but it did that with the waxing anyway I found.

Not quite sure why I'm admitting to any of this.

Exactly what happened to me. A back covered in puss filled spots is less attractive than body hair.

I get the wife to run the clippers over mine without a guard after I've done a DIY haircut (grade 2 all over). Then I do my chest, cock, balls, etc. biggrin

eek no concensus... smile

i am tempted by the lasering (IPL?), or at least the idea of it being more permanent. Wax and then laser machine, or does it only work if you shave because waxing thins the hairs...?

I've had my back waxed before every holiday for the past 6 or 7 years.I used a salon. It does hurt, lasts about 6 weeks before the hairs start to show again and DOES grow back just as thick.
I now get my girlfriend to shave it.No pain,no cost and lasts almost as long.

My back, stomach chest etc rivals an unkempt gorilla in it's natural habitat. If you shave your plums I can imagine it's not a good matching look but really guys, why not just leave it?
