I've always been skinny I guess no matter how much I ate however i've always felt my shoulders have never grown in so to speak (im in my late 20's). It's as if i've still got shoulders from when I was a boy on the body of a grown man however lately it's been causing me alot of pain not just in my shoulders but also my neck. It's also becoming tiresome when I try on say a suit jacket or a shirt and it just hangs on me like damp laundry hanging on a clothes line.

I know the only way around it is to hit the weights but has anyone ever experienced this, what did you find was the best excercise to do/supplements to take?

I completely agree with the above post re food. If you're skinny, you'll need to consider eating more (with a specific focus on protein) to gain muscle after weight lifting. There are some guidelines if you do start weight lifting to consider and then tweak as you start to understand what works for you.

I personally find higher reps and lots of sets preferable for shoulders and with an emphasis on strict form and proper warm ups to avoid injuries. I've always found it easy to cause problems with my own shoulders.

I think its worth educating yourself on the different parts of the shoulder as you'll need to target all areas to see them grow well.

Just to add to the good advice above, I have found swimming to be tremendously helpful. Breaststroke in particular I find is really good for building stronger chest, shoulders and back. Don't forget the back - it helps add more overall bulk in that chest sort of area you want to target, and will make it easier to push yourself harder with higher weights.

Check out Stronglifts 5x5 and seriously up your (healthy) food intake... smile

As i've got older (into my 40's), It's helped from being a bit scrawny to filling out more proportionally

I agree with swimming. I am 6'5'', broad but not naturally big. Since I started swimming a lot my shoulders and arms have grown noticeable. Chest as well but I am a freestyler which has less emphasis on the chest.

Obviously eating lots and lifting weights builds muscle as well but swimming is more fun, plus you increase your cardio fitness and less likely to injure yourself

Start off doing wide hand press ups daily and build from there, no need to jump straight into it. Gradually build up, adding some additional body weight exercises each week (like normal hand pressup, diamond pressup, planks, crunchs, bodyweight squats etc etc) , its not going to happen over night.

No need for gym membership or supplements. Just cut down on carbs and eat more protein instead.

I'ts funny you should mention protein. I had a few blood tests and urine sample tests a few years ago and the doctor commented that I had high levels of protein in my urine.

I inject Human Chorionic Gonadotrophin. it's done wonders for muscle growth, and has the side effect of keeping me alive.

So your replacing your bodies natural LH, low testosterone sucks but I don't think death is an immediate worry.

I don't produce it naturally anymore due to a brain tumour I had on my pituitary, so I have to manually inject the stuff to make my body work. It's not an exact science and so I tend to have high peaks of testosterone before crashing back to a low level, rinse and repeat every six days. If I don't do it then I will die in the end (heart failure apparently), so...
Levels are about 39-40 nmol/l, dropping down to around 10 before injection (for reference I am 36) - average for my age I believe is about 22-25. I also have very high haemoglobin levels, currently the specialists are worried about me having a stroke or similar from the blood clotting. It's great for aerobic workouts though.
It makes going to the gym the day after an injection quite amusing. Side effects aren't great though, and mood swings can be quite intense through the week. Don't even mention the varying levels of perving I go through.

Can I ask why they're prescribing HCG over test?

So I could have kids as otherwise I'm infertile. Also, it lessons the ups and downs in levels to a much smaller timescale.
I used to be on nebido which led to a horrible period of about a month where i felt really crap (it was a 3 month cycle at first which was far too long).

Anyway, I can see why athletes take drugs - even for an ordinary guy like me it's remarkably easy to stay fit and in shape.

Have u tried injecting every other day, 250-500iu? 6 days is way to long.

Neido on a 3 month schedule in theory works but even undeconate ester, I've found needs pinning every 2-3 weeks to keep levels stable.

Did u have fertility tests while on the testosterone? It's certainly not a contraceptive for me, spem counts a lot lower but it only takes 1 good swimmer.

My experience with the nhs and anything hormone related isn't great.

Just to clarify, this is not a case of low testosterone so I need a boost, it's a case of no testosterone so I need to live biggrin
I currently take 1500 IV every 6 days, it used to be much more frequent than that but it sent everything else mental as well and so was more of a risk to my health. It also made me very aggressive or tetchy.

My specialists have been excellent, but then I am at one of the main centres for it which probably helps!

I am on TRT through NHS. My T values were low, only just outside the range. I was givien Testogel to put on every day. Does seem to have made a difference in mood and also in the little generals department. This was prescribed by the GP. When they did the last blood test they also tested for two other hormones which tell the body to make T. One of these was very low so the GP refereed me to the endocrynologist. fking 3 month waiting list. Thankfully they gave me more Testogel whilst I wait.
