I was sat having lunch today when there was a very sudden and difficult to describe moment. It was like a kind of fizzing and a momentary feeling I was going to just pass out, not unlike the second or so before your lights go out under general anesthetic. There was no pain, just a slight panic that something was about to happen that I had no control over. Bit scary really. Since the moment I've felt very tired for the rest of the day and slightly dizzy. So what's that all about then?

Don't mess around and get it checked out - not to be alarmist, it could just as well be nothing.

However the consequences of it being something serious and not doing anything don't bear thinking about. It just isn't worth the risk. Don't leave it overnight, just go and get yourself checked out as soon as you can.

Local surgery will be closed tonight, so maybe I'll get myself down to the hospital to run it by them.

I've had that on the odd occasion at random moments over the years. Rightly or wrongly I've never investigated further. I am prone to anxiety and mild panic attacks so it's maybe related to that.

Neuro symptoms can be pretty non-specific i.e. not something you diagnose over the internet. A professional opinion is the only way to go really.

I decided to call 111 last night to seek their opinion. They were very efficient in that there were lots of scripted questions followed by a call back by a local GP. He was thorough and felt confident in ruling out anything serious, but was happy for me to call him back today if I felt I wanted to. Excellent service. And I'm still here, albeit not having had the best night's sleep!

Magnesium deficiency might be a possibility.

I had a few incidents like that about 20 years ago. At the time I was suffering migraines and blocked sinus issues too. I am convinced they were all linked. Had full check up, including scan, and nothing untoward was found apart from confirming sinus problems. Symptoms never returned.

That's an interesting thought. I've had major jaw surgery a couple if times in the last 10 years due to a car crash. I've often thought I've been more susceptible to chest infections since and have had flu twice & pneumonia. I seem to be blocked regularly. Maybe it's related?

In my case it's narrow canals that get blocked easily. At the time the knock-on effects were headaches and dizziness. Fortunately I am less exposed to germs these days as I no longer use public transport and the kids have left home. I get about one cold a year but it can take about 3-5 weeks to shake off all the effects.

Labyrinthitis used to make me feel like that, but alas not just the once. Got better slowly over a few weeks.
