Intensive care.
Discussion
I personally believe that relatives sometimes hinder recovery by always being at the bedside. You need to look after yourself as well as your mum and you both need your rest periods.
I'm guessing your mum is septic, with the right antibiotics, support for her heart and careful monitoring, she had a good chance of beating this.
I hope your mum gets better very soon

sounds like logical advice but google throws all sorts. Mum's not septic but she's battling a few poor stats bless her.
Re-reading back my post from last night, reminds me why never used to post here after the pub.
For what it's worth, in 2004 I spent six weeks in intensive care with a ruptured artery in my chest. Things were very touch & go at times, I know it's an old cliche but it is amazing what these people can do...
Above all, please try to be patient. Nothing miraculous will happen suddenly, it's a matter of slow but steady progress.
And don't scare yourself by looking at Google - in PH terms, it'll tell you that you need a new engine when all you really need is a set of spark plugs!
I'm sure Mum will come through this ok. Be patient, be there for her but make time for yourself too.
Best Wishes

Sorry to read that.
Spent about 2 weeks in intensive care myself 18 months ago (part of a 5 week stint in hospital) and having friends/family there at all possible times helped me I think, although you must understand that if she's basically put of it and needs to rest, she needs to rest.
Hopefully she improves soon.

Thanks for the tl;dr version.
To reassure you:
66 is relatively young and it sounds like she has a good desire to recover.
Questions:
1: is MYSELFstaying in ICU 22/24 a day going to help?
No. I've been in hospital and very ill, there is enough going on that you don't need your hand holding. By all means come and see me every day but I have a job to do (recovery) so if you don't mind you can push off and let me get on with it. see you tomorrow.
2: Anyone got a pick me up story from the ICU?
I was in there f*ed up from a road accident. Only overnight but after that I started the long climb out. It's a job. She's at the hard bit of it now, let her know that you are there for her but let her get on with it.
3: ANYTHING else you could suggest to help, what have I missed here??
No. Let the hospital do their job. Let your Mum do hers. Yuors is to stop whining on here and be positive towards your Mum and your brothers. Not trolling, just a bit of tough love. Dry your eyes. This is not about you. Go see your Mum, look after her but don't sit around wringing your hands. She's going to get better, she needs you to tell her that and believe that, and she needs to know that you are getting on with the rest of your life. Tell her about that so that she has something to think about besides sitting in bed, something to look forward to. However vaguely.
Hope it works out OK for her.
