I didn't want to hijack this thread so I've started my own. A comment made by the OP struck a chord with me ...
I've been pretty anxious for most of my life (pushing 42 now) and the bit about jaw tightness really resonated with me. I seem to have a tight jaw, a throat which feels like it's in a vice, though not like my breathing is restricted, just like I find it difficult getting words out, like it's a huge strain trying to speak. It's worse on an afternoon and is exacerbated by speaking with certain people at work.
Can anyone relate?

Anxiety correlates very strongly with high intelligence and the 'curse of intelligence'.

I clinch my jaw a lot, normally during discussions with people I just want to rip their heads off. I've had to bite my tongue so many times that I just tend to be quiet during any meetings, especially if I feel the decisions are wrong. I find hard exercise and working for myself helps
