Well, I was in a bar, drunk, and fell asleep for a couple of hours on the bar, with my head resting on one palm, and thus on the elbow. I woke up and half my hand was totally numb, two little fingers, tingling like crazy, and also the hand is very weak now. I guess I squashed the carpal nerve that passes under the 'funny bone' area.

This was three days ago and it seems to be slowly getting better. Is it worth seeing a doctor over this, or should I just leave it to sort itself out. I seriously can't imagine what the average GP could do, and I'm not in the UK, so even worse.

I've had similar, albeit chronic rather than acute; it's(assuming it's the same thing)just inflammation of the nerve at the elbow. I was prescribed some pills, but I never got around to taking them as the side-effects looked a bit alarming and it got better without any treatment beyond not leaning on my elbows so much.

Mine is improving slowly, and I'm trying not to rest on the elbow at all if possible.

Mate of mine did something similar and killed a load of nerves in his wrist & hand. Took him 18 months to completely recover.

If it's still numb, have a quick hand shandy with it and pretend it's someone else.

How were you allowed to sleep for hours in a bar?
All bars I know the bar staff would have woken you up and kicked you out within minutes. If your sleeping your not spending so you can GTFO.

Ditto. That includes the bars where I am good friends with the owners!

Ooo is the start of a good joke? (Seriously, I haven't heard it)

To the OP, if in doubt see a quack they can always say you'll be fine stop stressing or they can suggest something else...

After doing my AFF, the little finger and ring finger of both hands used to go numb very easily. I put it down to an ill fitting rig on the jumps. It took a few years to go back to normal.

Those are the two I'm having trouble with. I guess it is the same Median nerve your shoulder straps must have crushed. Mine are slowly getting better, strength is coming back, but still tingly.
