Hello
Just looking for medical advice really,
Returned on Monday from Riva Maya mexico with some form of stomach bug that has gone on for 12 days now both me and the boss are both suffering quite badly... 14-20 Times a day I think a this rate I'll be fitting New hinges on the toilet door!
I've had 2 visits to the gp in this period and a 3rd later today the symptoms for me are getting worse more pain cramps and fatigue the gp keeps repeating the same stuff which I guess is procedure and that is sit it out etc. it's only been a week or 10 days,, the problem is that I also suffer with ulcerative colitis which was nearly under control and the drugs I need to take for it are just passing through now so no longer active..so it now feels I'm starting to flare again with blood in the bowel movements..
I've mentioned the cyclospora because it's started appearing in the press and reports of it being in the region we was in ...
Any help or advice and antibiotic recommendations would be greatly received!
Now where's the loo!
Mike

If you now have blood in your poo - go back to see your GP. (they should at least be arranging a stool culture / parasite screen), and you may need to talk to your IBD nurse

yes

Do as much of it by phone as you can, but specialist teams could really help with this, may be you need a meds boost for a bit or something.

Feel better soon! (Sainsburys home delivery 12-pack of baby wipes is a flippin' lifesaver. Just saying.)

Hello again,
Many thanks for the replys, saw a different gp yesterday afternoon and he has taken it far more seriously, he spoke to an expert in tropical medicine and they have prescribed `azithromycin` 500mg x3, cultures to be taken again at completion of course also seeing gastro Dr on Thursday, so hopefully it will stopped in its tracks..
Thanks again Mike

Oh yes, great advice on the baby wipes, I have a 12 pack cooling in the fridge as I type!
