What is fast?
What are you running now?

How much time are you prepared to put into training?

Current speed is 10k/40:30. Fast is 36m/10k.

Whatever it takes!

Lose weight - train hard up hills, repeat - a lot.

I found that the best way to bring my times down was to train with faster runners! I also mixed up the training to include lots of hill training and things like paarlauf and fartlek training helped.

That's pretty quick already. It'll take a fair bit of effort and commitment to make major gains on those improvements.

How long have you been running, and what training do you currently do?

Not distance running, but I found that plyometrics was a great way of increasing my sprinting.

What's holding your speed up- muscle fatigue, aerobic capacity or both?

Weight: if you have some to lose, do so.
Speedwork: intervals, shorter races
Company: join a running club, go to their training sessions, try and keep up with the group that are faster than you.
