Bit of an embarrassing one this... Having problems getting it up. Apologies if I go into a bit too much detail.

A bit of back story - around 6 weeks ago met this really nice girl, being 21 and never really having regular sex before I was damn excited at the prospect of getting down to it and to my delight so was she. The few days leading up I may have been guilty of working the little fella a bit too hard, unfortunately the day before I was planning to stay over at hers for the first time I could just not get a proper erection. What I could get was very limp and didn't stick around for long. This obviously scared this st out of me as I didn't want it to happen on the big day, but of course, it did.

Putting it down to nerves I looked online and ordered some herbal tablets which did the job fantastically, only issue was I couldn't get an erection myself once these had worn off, but put that down to needing some rest in between. I went through about 4/5 weeks of using these to great affect and felt a lot calmer about the whole thing. One day I forgot to take a tablet before we met up, this time I had no problems at all with performance and everything ran smooth, so I thought all was better and got through maybe another 4 sessions over the next week without any help from my herbal friends, until earlier this week when it happened again. We tried a few times to have sex but I just couldn't do it. Very embarrassing but she has been really kind about the whole thing.

I'm booked in at the doctors next week to see if we can get to the bottom of this but I imagine it'll take some time to get tests done and go through the formalities. I don't believe there is any problems with the 'plumbing' as it has worked fine with and without the tablets, but for the past 5 or 6 weeks it has just felt very tired down there, which is a big worry. I'm hoping its physiological as I've been fairly stressed with work recently.

So, anyone else dealt with something similar?

Yes I have had problems with this my whole life. I am concerned/interested/confused by the "herbal" tablets you have used. I have used Cialis (similar to viagra) for a number of years, and it is impressive but requires a prescription. Herbal tablets are usually st.

I am not a Dr, but too me it sounds like nerves and too much spanking. I suspect the herbal tablets are having a placebo effect on and are not doing anything. The fact that you have been able to do it without them should suggest that everything is roughly in order.

This can be caused by blood supply issues (which can have many complex causes), hormonal, and mental problems. The difficulty is going to be getting to the bottom of it. I have seen specialists, endocrinologists, urologists the lot. Nothing has ever been diagnosed. The new tablets, Viagra etc are wonderful but they also mean that GPs will prescribe them like smarties to this problem and wont want to investigate much further after probably a blood test. That has been my experience anyway.

I am afraid this being PH you are going to get posts telling you that you are gay, watch too much porn etc. Ignore that.

How is your health in general?

Your just stressing out about it too much IMO, when the what if thoughts become reality...the will I get it up/last 5 seconds worries become reality...

Floppy stress happens to the best of us when we first meet new people (or drunk), as you become less stressed/overexcited it passes and all's good smile

I'm not a Doctor either, but it sounds like nerves to me. If your girl is understanding it'll sort itself out over the next few weeks. Just enjoy any don't think about it too much.

I did think it could be porn related at first, however I was never really a big watcher and have only used it once in the last 6 weeks.

Tablets are called Vigostren. Bought from Amazon. I really do think they work.

Health is good, gym 3/4 times a week, don't smoke, only drink alcohol every fortnight and eat fairly healthy.

I am leaning to it being a mental issue rather than physical, but obviously want to make sure its nothing serious. The 'will I get it up' thought has passed through my mind a few times when we are getting down to it, and has done the three times where is hasn't worked... Its just bizarre as I haven't experienced anything like this before, 2 months ago I was a typical 21 year old when it came to this sort of thing!

I'm meeting her tomorrow so will see what happens

Agreed - it's usually psychological if you're young.

At the risk of going all mumsnet, focus on a lot of foreplay and making both her and you relaxed.

And don't touch yourself when you're not with her.

The fact that you had no problems when you simply forgot the medication suggests it's all psychological. If it was physical, the problem wouldn't appear intermittently. Stop worrying, start relaxing and avoid excessive alcohol (it doesn't help). It will get better over time.

You worked the fella too hard before the big day. You're pressurising yourself too much. Stop looking online, stop the self abuse and chill out. Don't even go to the doctor's!
