Admin, please move if this post is better in another forum.

Ok, so it looks like the Mrs and I missed the boat on Making our own bundle of joy (Mrs is 49 and I'm 45). We've been together 18 months and in that time no live rounds have hit the target (no ovulation doesn't help).

Sooooo, we're looking at fostering, and I'm wondering if there are any PH folk that have tried fostering or are currently doing so.

There's lots to consider, of course. Private versus council for starters...

Comments and suggestions welcome.

Get you're cardio training sorted, don't expect a baby, work out age group of kids you feel comfortable with, don't expect a baby, did I mention don't expect a baby? Consider implications on wider family

Had to laugh when I read that. Reason? We really don't expect a baby :-) There's no extended family, either, gladly.

And group wise? 3 - 13 we reckon.

I like to bring some humour to people. We fostered for a few years, I was main carer and did all the day to day parenting. We had 2 brothers 6 and 9 (autistic/learned behaviour/mild cp) both went from 48% school to 100%. It was an exhausting, emotional time, but rewarding. We also had a 12 year old girl who had been abused by her mother and boyfriends. Unfortunately the social worker withheld vital information that put our niece and other young children at risk, she moved on. Looked after kids are complex and simple at the same time, they expect you to get them moved, it's happened before so it'll happen again. It's all about trust
