High Carbon Monoxide in body

Has anyone got any ideas I have been diagnosed with severe sleep apnoea and my doctor is being very though at checking all sorts of things, one of the tests we did was a Co level and I had the test and the reading was 15 ! she was worried so we tried a different machine and the same result.

I have had my boiler checked/house checked and readings are fine any ideas ???

Is your car exhaust leaking?


It only takes a small hole to let fumes into your car.

op - are you sure you mean CO ( carbon monoxide) and not CO2 ( carbon dioxide) ?

How was this level measured?
Do you smoke or inhale second hand smoke?
Was it from a blood test, breath test or pulse oximeter?

You have got me doubting which I was tested for now so will double check

Test was measured with a special metre
Never smoked and no one around me smokes
Breath test

Its nothing in my house and its not either of the cars in normally drive they have been tested

CO hangs around for a while in the body, or the effects do. Have you checked workplaces etc?

Hi Yes we have tried everything I am going back to the docs for another test to see whats going on

I was diagnosed with obstructive sleep apnoea in 2008 following a car crash.

CO was never mentioned to me, I was just issued with a CPAP machine and have been well ever since (regarding this issue).

I'll follow your replies with interest, as until eighteen months ago I did smoke.

Thanks for the reply I had never heard of sleep apnoea before it was only the wife noticing I take ages between breaths at night and my snoring had gone from mild to like a chainsaw with a misfire lol

Been on my CPAP machine ever since as no doubt you have found its a strange thing to get used to but just accept it now my actions when I had my sleep test were stopping breathing 33 time an hour now its down to 3 per hour which I am told is acceptable

The Co thing was just another test the doc asked for

Thanks for the reply I double checked what they had done I had a Co test (breathing) into a machine still not sure why the reading was high yet
