Monday morning I woke up with a very hurty right knee. I can only assume I did something to it during the night that I was not aware of at the time. The pain is fairly low-level and easily bearable if I keep it still, leg either straight or bent. What I can't do is put any weight on it while it is bent because then it hurts a lot. So I can walk with a stiff leg and get around alright.

There is some swelling and tenderness above and either side of the knee. I'm pretty sure it's a soft tisue injury, I haven't had any joint problems so far despite being older than the average PHer (I was around when the Beatles became famous).

Going upstairs I lead with the left leg and follow with the right (kept straight) onto the same step. The another step and so on.

Monday morning I did walk around quite a bit and probably shouldn't have though. Yesterday I mostly stayed in bed. Today it feels a bit better but mobility hasn't increased.

Getting into the car is very difficult, I experimented with it this morning and abandoned the attempt. I would need to bend my leg a lot and then apply lift to it somehow as I would not be able to raise it under its own power. I could of course get a doctor to look at it but that would involve a trip to the surgery (not feasible unless I get into a car) and I suspect I would be told to rest it and wait for it to get better.

Anyone had something similar? Any advice to offer?

Trip to A+E is justifiable IMO. You'll need someone to chauffeur you so you can slide in the back.

If it's no better by tomorrow I think I will give the medical assistance thing a go. Will try my local surgery first, local A+E can be quite busy.

Sleep with one pillow under your knee and two under your ankle, that will help to drive the swelling down.

It must be bad! You made a fking speeling (deffo not a typo) mistake. wink

You probably should have RICE'd it straight away. Given your profession, definitely get a professional opinion, I assume you do some of the fitting yourself?
