I've been having continuous issues with my right ear following a flight to Dubai in July this year.

The year popped on the way over and since then I've had problems including flu like symptoms, dizziness and a 'rollling waves' sensation in the year.

I have been fobbed off by the local GP as being a slight infection which will clear but I've finally managed to get a ENT appointment albeit not until February 2017.

My question is has anybody else suffered from this horrible affliction and if so what tips do you have? I've tried a number of Optrinex type nasal sprays and Vics in boiling water with a towel on my head.

Any help would be appreciated.

I've suffered hearing infections due to profound deafness since birth, and whilst it does sound like you might have an ear infection - you might want to have a look at this?

Basically it's a shaped piece of plastic that presses against your nostril (one at a time) and allows you to inflate a balloon via your nose. The pressure needed to do that can help to equalize any pressure inside your ears.

It might look a bit daft but the science behind it seems quite sensible and it might alleviate some of your problems if you use it gently? Have a look at the blurb and see if you think it's worth a punt @ 8 quid?

For what it's worth - don't try it with party balloons as the resistance needed to inflate them would be a lot stronger compared to the balloons they send with the Otovent.

Hope you get sorted it soon. Ear infections are no fun at all.
