Lost my sense of taste...

I have had a cough now for 4 weeks. Got worse after 2 weeks.
I can go ages without coughing but talking sets me off in violent coughing. (Doctor prescribed antibiotics but thought it may be viral)
The cought is very productive but I began getting sinus pain so i blew my nose repeatedly and i could then breath clearly and without pain.
However the side effect of this appears to be that I have completely lost my sense of taste.
Anyone experienced this before? I can breath through my nose fine so seems weird to be unable to taste.
