Right hand giving me a lot of gip at the moment.
I'm 62 and generally fit, go to gym 2-3 times a week for light workouts, walk dog, play golf and tennis, but no tennis in the last couple of months as the impact from hitting brings pain. Golf has also been causing pain but this has been more manageable until today when I had to call it quits after two holes.
Any squeezing of hand eg handshakes is now murder painful right across the back of my knuckles. Pressing any of the first three fingers against a hard surface is murder also, especially the index finger.
It can be ok for a couple of weeks but suddenly very sore after a single impact eg tennis or golf hit.
Would love to know what is causing this and how I can cure it without stopping all forms of physical exertion/sport etc. Assume it's some form of tendon issue but there's no pain further up the arm beyond the wrist (though the right arm has been generally weak for about a year now).
Booked into physio again tonight for first session of 2017 after a batch of sessions in Q4 of last year from which I got a better posture but no real/lasting improvement to hand area.
Any thoughts from the pocket docs on here?
For extra info I've always had a hard lump on the back of my right hand which I assume is a ganglion. It's never given me any trouble in the past. My day job involves sitting in front of a keyboard at home.
