Poly myalgia rheumatica

As per the title, Mrs C has just being diagnosed.

We're relieved to know what has been causing the symptoms and we are very relieved that it isn't anything worse. We are keen to get other people's experiences of managing the condition with minimal steroid side affects and maintaining as normal a life as possible.

Gentle exercise. No other treatment really.

My mother takes methotrexate to treat this condition.
Seems very effective.

That's usually for rheumatoid arthritis but it depends on lots of factors I suppose. Polymyalgia and fibromyalgia are both tricky to deal with as there's no good understanding of why they happen.

You can explain rheumatoid arthritis as its detectable with blood test and autoimmune in nature so mtx knocks your immune system back to calm things down.

Prednisolone, exercise (dog walking and hydrotherapy, mainly) and a very focused diet has really made a difference. Keen to cut the steroid dependence as far as possible so really focusing on exercise, lifestyle and diet
