Where do you get your prescription glasses?

I need new glasses as mine are so scratched I can barely see through them! I've converted to contacts, so only really use glasses a couple of days a week.
I've used Vision Express for my eye tests, but glasses there are very expensive. I've looked at Pretavoir and the glasses I want, including 1.67 lenses are only £150! However, I'm somewhat worried by online purchasing as I can't get my PD from Vision Express.
I'm a little tempted to use the opticians in John Lewis, as they have what I want, but are £230. Cheaper than Vision Express, but significantly more than buying online.

Having had a massive falling out with an online supplier (who say they will supply glasses directly) over the piss poor standard of finish on their products (sharp edges left on from the casting, sharp ends left on the nylon filament on the bottom of some rimless) I would use absolutely anyone else.
Specsavers here too. I don't buy any of the add-ons, just basic specs. At their prices I can afford to bin them if/when they get scratched. My normal glasses are 2 for £75 (or was it £90? I forget.) One pair are getting a bit tired, 2 years in the second have come out to play. I have reading glasses, these were the £25 cheapo range, work fine. No sprung sides so the arms flap about. Given that they go in my shirt pocket at work, spending maybe as much as £40 might be better in due course.
My basic pres. is short sight, about 3 or 4 each eye, +astig, +prism on R. This is my daily wear, driving the car spec, while the reading ones are the same with a bit of mag. now that I'm an old git. I'm not prepared to go varifocal yet.

Vision Express for me, but then I wear glasses all the time and I want to do my utmost to ensure a proper eye test and proper decent quality frames and lenses.
Yes, I could probably get it cheaper on line, and yes it might be just as good quality. It might not though, I feel reassured that the people at VE are 'proper' people with proper kit.
And to be honest, a pair of glasses probably lasts me a couple of years, and then carries on as a spare pair. In the grand scheme of things, it's not a lot for something that gets used so much and is so important.
Maybe it's different if you only wear glasses occasionally or the correction is slight.
