High tolerance to drugs and alcohol?
Discussion
ETA: I'm not trying to ask if I should try Class A drugs. I'm asking whether anyone actually feels the effects of caffeine or nicotine, or completely looses all memory and ability to do things after 5 pints.
Not sure entirely why I'm asking PH this, but I've never really thought to ask a large-ish sample of people about it before.
I've never really done drugs as such. Not because I have any pre-conceptions, or judge people particularly (I'm certainly not naive enough to think that only drug addicts and London Bankers do class A's). I've tried a couple of things now and again, and I've done the usual smoking at 15 and regularly enjoy a drink. I've also tried pot in Amsterdam, and probably drink enough coffee to send the average person straight to heart palpitations (but purely because I love the taste of good coffee). However....
I very rarely get any noticeable effect from anything. Smoking quite literally does nothing for me other than look occasionally cool or provide an opportunity to chat up a girl outside a bar. The only time I have EVER felt any effect from Nicotine was after trying two super strength Snuss (Swedish 'chewing' tobacco you put under your upper lip for 15mins) when I felt a bit light headed for 10mins or so. It was mildly entertaining, and also provided a great deal of amazement to my Swedish friends who were all convinced I'd throw up from the intensity of the nicotine.
The only time I've ever felt 'high' was after eating a Space Cake in Amsterdam and that was actually quite funny in many ways. But again, I was warned against it as everyone I know who's had one (even some who smoke) said I'd probably have some nightmarish trip.
Then the milder stuff:
Alcohol: probably the most noticeable effect, but I normally don't get much worse than tipsy apart from the occasional 'special occasion' which has ended up in a pool of vomit.
Caffein: literally nothing. I worked at Starbucks as a student and could easily down about 5 or 6 coffees on a shift and never felt anything
Chocolate: No idea what people mean about it being comfort food. I struggle to eat more than a couple of chocolates before feeling a bit sick from the sweetness of it.
So....am I alone on this? I suspect not. Does anyone who's a doctor know anything about it? I guess I'm lucky that I don't feel the effect of a lot of these things as it basically makes doing drugs pointless! Is there any research out there about it?

So, basically, you're saying you've not tried particularly strong drugs and have had little or no effect from them. The solution would seem, to me, to be quite clear. You need to try stronger drugs.I've never really done drugs as such. Not because I have any pre-conceptions, or judge people particularly (I'm certainly not naive enough to think that only drug addicts and London Bankers do class A's). LOL. I've tried some fairly strong stuff but none of it has ever really had much of an effect. As I said....it clearly takes huge doses of things for me to feel anything. By contrast with the snuss, my friend tried it too. It sent him loopy, he nearly thew up and then had the most intense headache/hangover the following day which wasn't from alcohol. This is pretty common for people trying it for the first time apparently....RacerMike said:

You should try driving into the desert in a Thunderbird convertible with a bottle of ether, a blotter of acid and a large quantity of bourbon.

Some mescaline as well? If so how much?"I think you should drive....,"

Discarding coffee and chocolate, it reads to me that you're not really consuming the others in sufficient quantities to have a noticeable effect. I'd say that you're either consciously or subconsciously holding back in order to remain in control. If one 'space cake' in Amsterdam made you feel high then you have a relatively normal tolerance for an occasional user. If a drinking session on a special occasion results in you vomiting then, again, I'd say you have a normal tolerance for an occasional user.
It'd help to know the quantities you're consuming?

I've tried a whole load of stuff, most of it worked like it says on the box. Except Ecstacy. Two times, two different tabs, from different suppliers.....and......nada, nothing. I got the hot sweats for a couple of minutes the first time, second time, absolutely nothing. My buddy also had them, he was off his trolley.
I can't take my beer very well, tend to get falling down drunk after about six or eight hours drinking.

Suggest you try some nice relaxing crack if you want to give it the big one about how much of "high tolerance to drugs and alcohol" you think you have.
what you have described so far is the equivalent of giving a child slightly too much sugar for their own good. Some children go loopy some don't.
But FFS up your game before proclaiming that you are some kind of medical marvel - you're not impervious, you're just not really trying hard enough.

Is the OP saying he's tried any recreational drugs other than weed, alcohol and nicotine? Seems a pointless thread if you're going to be coy. If that's all you've done, the reason drugs don't make a difference to you is cos you're not doing the good ones.
I think you're missing my point. I appreciate the class A's are a lot stronger and that caffeine, nicotine and alcohol are mere child's play to the average PH powerfully built director who snorts 500g of coke a week and shoots up before a big board meeting twice a month, but that's kind of my point. The effect I've felt from Nictoine is literally zero, nadda, sweet fa. And yet people claim to be addicted to it, and claim to 'crave a cigarette'. Are they just bs'ing or am I just experiencing something different? I mean, I've easily smoked enough to 'get addicted' as a kid, mainly just because, like most 15 year olds, smoking was cool and grown up and dangerous and helped you fit in. But I literally have never craved a cigarette. Or felt the effect of nicotine, apart from two super strength snuss which was about the equivalent of 5 cigarettes in one go.I'm almost certain that if I shoved a vast quantity of white powder down my nose then I would feel something. The space
Cake is testiment to that fact. What about the lower 'more normal' amounts though? Is the feeling of alertness people feel when they drink coffee placaebo? Or do I just not notice it? Or do I not react to it? That's the question I'm asking.

Nicotine and caffeine aren't really 'drugs' you get a 'hit' from. If you use them regularly and then stop you would notice the difference and get the craving. But you don't use either to get wasted.
Get some quality class A into you, then you'll know about it.
I thought nicotine was one of the most addictive drugs going ? Get some quality class A into you, then you'll know about it.
I think i get what you mean,i can quite easily have a double espresso and fall straight to sleep. alcohol has little effect on me, vodka and red bull which i was promised would do something i can drink like pop.
On the bad sides though if i get a headache tablets, even paramol, dont do anything.
If im in pain, painkillers dont do anything.
Cant speak for anything else as never tried anything else.
