Seconded.

PSA means prostrate specific antigen.

Yeah, dont get panicked reading stuff on the net, probably BPH, basically your prostate gets bigger as you get older and narrows the Urethrabut get an appointment with your GP as soon as possible, the can give you stuff that helps.

Tamsulosin, and it works.

As said, Get a PSA done first. Nothing to fear it's just a blood test.

Go to docs, see what they say but also ask for a referral to your Urology unit at the local hospital.
You will have various tests and they may do a cynoscope, urinal graph thing as well as ask for an 'input/output' chart.
I am a lot younger and am currently in the queue for an op down there.

PSA doesn't really mean anything in itself. Baseline figures vary wildly. A DRE will be more useful than the blood test in isolation.

If drug treatment fails with BPH, there's a couple of simple surgical procedures you can have. Mine was too large because I delayed agreeing to surgery, so I couldn't have the easier one - green laser resection - and had to have the longer-recovery T.U.R.P. (trans-urethral resection of the prostate). Five years on and whilst I don't pee like a twenty year old, it's still pretty good. The most unpleasant part of it all is undoubtedly the ultrasound guided prostate biopsy to check for malignancy. The P.S.A. test is far from reliable or conclusive so don't panic if it comes back elevated.

Please don't pretend you have never heard of prostrate problems in men over 50, the related symptoms and what to do about it.

All these men over 50 lying around, they make the place look untidy.

On the other hand, a 'prostate' problem should not be ignored. I was the opposite, peeing frequently. Had it checked, had a couple of biopsies - prostate cancer. Radiotherapy ended just over two years ago, now I'm back to being a miserable git, just like before.

Not pretending, more of a "Head in the sand" syndrome, or it will never happen to me attitude!

Far too many men are ostriches, afraid to face up to medical problems often until it's too late. I've lost good friends to cancer because they ignored warning signs - sad to lose them but they were fking idiots to think the best thing to do was to become a large flightless bird.

I noticed mine wasnt as fast as it used to be, I am 46 and have teenage sons and they could join the fire brigade, so when I went of my yearly Thyroid medication check up I mentioned it and they did a PSA test, not heard anything back so am assuming it is ok, losing weight, less booze and just being fitter is helping, it does get slower as we age but it shouldnt cause distress or difficulty, have seen a mates dad do the Ostrich thing we kind of made a bit of an agreement to not ignore anything.
