I did not know this was a thing. I've been a (UK) size ten since I was about thirteen, which was a long long time ago. For decades I could buy a pair of size ten shoes safe in the knowledge they'd fit often without the requirement to even bother trying them on in the shop - because bloke.

Just recently, over the past year or two, the occasional new shoe purchase hasn't been as comfy as I'd like. I initially put this down to shoe sizing anomalies with the Continental or US method of sizing not translating accurately to UK measurements. But yesterday I got measured and have gone up just over a size to an eleven.
It seems as you get older the various squishy bits that hold your foot together can relax and allow the foot to spread out both in length and more commonly in width.

So not content with allowing my waistline, chins and forehead to grow, apparently old age pokes fun at the size of your feet too. Joy. frown

Feet can increase in size by a shoe size and a half (uk) between your 20s and 70s. The bones dont grow but ligaments and rendoms probably 'give' a bit.
Conversely, folks with very high arched feet can find they get shorter but higher

Yup, the older you get the more you sit on them.

Mine are going the other way, i used to be a 10.5 and now i can get into a 9!

Perhaps it's just the manufacturers sizes that are changing.

I went to buy a pair of shoes and found my feet had grown. I was told by the saleswomen that for men, as they get older, it is like pregnancy. Evidently a pregnant woman's feet will grow due to certain hormones. As the woman seemed to be enjoying my problem getting a size 11 to fit, I asked her if women's feet grew just to balance the bump.

You mention your forehead; if you think your face has got bigger, or is changing, your hands have got bigger or anything else unusual including poor peripheral vision and bumping into things, headaches or anything odd get it checked out by your GP.

You do both, of course, realise that that particular reference was a toupée losing nod towards male pattern baldness/hair loss and not a serious medical condition?

I am sure he does but it just happens that Acromegaly has very similar symptoms. Most people put changes down to age and mostly they are but a few (like me) actually do have this condition. Amusingly my doc mentioned Jaws when he saw me. Apparently Richard Kiel had Acromegaly when he was 9 years old but most get it from 30-50 which is why it takes often 10 yrs to be noticed as we all, like me, put it down to age changes. Hopefully I won't end up being 7ft 1.5 in tall!
