So to cut a long story short I have been riding a bike to small for me, and from what i have read online there is a case of ankling. The position of my foot when my pedal is at 6 o'clock is wrong and my leg not extended correctly.
I recently went to a&e to have it checked out on a Saturday evening after 5 days of 'this is a bit uncomfortable' and just missing out on walk in centre. They done an x-ray in a couple of positions but couldn't see anything and also done a few blood tests to check if there were any reasons to the swelling as there was no trauma to cause it, so to speak.
Anyway this was Saturday 01/04/17. Doctor told me to rest my foot in an elevated position for a week. With out sounding arrogant, I know I'm not the only person either but I work full time, I have a child at home and I help out around the house, sometimes I drive to work now and sometimes I get the bus (riding is not on at the moment due to ankle). Wednesday 05/04/2017 I buried my Dad and I helped carry the coffin which probably didn't help matters.
Anyhow, I've been taking some ibuprofen for the swelling and that has gone now, unless I have over done it for the day. I try rest it when possible at work and at home, but I can't just sit around and do nothing for a sore ankle, can I? Sounds silly maybe but I feel like people may think I'm over reacting getting comments at work now 'your ankle still playing up?'
The pain pressure point no longer feels in my right ankle, it feel slighty higher and a smidge towards the front of my leg. Say 2 inches higher than my ankle bone and half an inch towards the front, but the pain heads down towards the ankle. No bruising, no swelling.
Advice please. Oh and I have a 25 mile bike ride on May 7th. I know it's not the far in the great schemes of cycling but it's my foot in the door of organised rides. I have bought a new bike since and I'm waiting to get back on and ride.
