Sugar Addict ?
Discussion
A guy I know, not fat but keeps putting on his FB page what he has eaten, always adds "Om Nom Nom" at the end, which to me, means he is a berk.
He said he was on his second full packet of Oreos, two new flavours so he bought both and ae both packets, along with 5 Orange Club biscuits, he eats a full six pack of Creme Eggs (I feel like puking after one bite) and numerous other huge amounts of confectionary, washed down with loads of booze.
Not sure how he isnt enormous, but must use the energy, but to em, that is full on addiction and he is heading for some kind of health problem.
Anyone ever seent his before ? not my problem but intrigues me, I like sweet stuff but not like that.

Type 2 diabetes heading his way like an express train
Cue a life of costing the taxpayer hundreds of thousands of pounds in treatment to keep him alive, the selfish, greedy
He has been told that is a possibility, but said he isn't bothered while he isn't putting weight on, how he doesnt, I dont know, must burn it off.Cue a life of costing the taxpayer hundreds of thousands of pounds in treatment to keep him alive, the selfish, greedy

Its like an 8 year old boy with unlimited pocket money for sweeties, seen it before, a young girl at work, she was quite a looker but was getting fatter and fatter, we caught her adding sugar to Frosties, she reigned it right in and started running, dead slim now.
Interesting documentary on BBC Iplayer about very large people, its easy to mock and as a reformed (minor league) fatty I can see how people find it hard, sixty odd year old women with mobility issues cant go running, slight case of chicken and egg with a hint of servers you right but it did show how stomach surgery for morbidly obese folk pays dividends, literally hours after surgery one diabetic had normal blood sugar.
This guy though, that is an addiction, pure and simple.
He might be on some medication which makes him feel like that, it happened to me. I generally don't have a sweet tooth, preferring savoury things, but If Ferrero Rocher were on special offer I'd buy a box and eat them all in an hour or two. I really had to reel it in and take salad, fruit and chicken to work instead, weight gain slowed but didn't stop and thankfully i'm on a different type now which has curbed my appetite overall, especially sweet stuff.
As a rule I don't eat sugary products, biscuits, sweets, cakes, coca cola, anything like that,no sugar on my cereal or in my tea for like 40 years BUT on the rare occasions I do I go crazy.Bought a 4 pack of rolos (for my mum) and ate 3 packs in 1 go.Same at Xmas, bought a big tin of quality street for visitors and ate the whole contents on my own in a couple of days.
All my willpower goes out of the window but because I am aware of this 99% of the time I don't have any such food in the house.....just as the occasional treat

Slim diabetics tend to be a lot sicker too, possibly because they're so sure skinny means healthy that it has to get really bad to be diagnosed

As far as diabetes is concerned he does have a point. It's obesity that's the risk factor not sugar itself.
This is not true....Dr Jekyll said:
Yes it is. Obesity increases risk of type 2 diabetes irrespective of where you're getting the calories from. Sugar itself is a problem once you've got diabetes but doesn't cause it.
The vast majority of fat people got the excess calories as glucose in one form or another. The other macros are not addictive. If you can go without sugar, sweet foods (including fruit) for a week, it is much easier to resist temptation after that first week. You just don't get the cravings any more. It helps to lay off the bread and other high GI foods too.
Anyone who is having trouble cutting down, set yourself the target of none for a week. That's a nice, manageable prospect. It's not like saying to yourself that you are going to give it up permanently. At the end of the week, have a good think about if you can carry on. Maybe do one more week...
