Because who goes and sees a doctor eh?

For the last 4 mornings I have woken up with horrific pain in my right hand. 6:30am, BANG... awake in pain.

The pain feels like its coming from the base of my thumb where it joins into your wrist, just a bit further towards your fingers than the place where you check pulse. It hurts most If I try and do the "wave" gesture, or if I try to bend my hand up.

The bizarre thing is that as the day goes on the pain completely goes away.

I have been doing lots of DIY the last 2 weeks so I have probably fked it up doing something stupid.

Any ideas, before I go and see the docs next week?

Thanks
Rich

Have you changed anything about your pillows or bed/bedding? I say that because I had something similar and it seems that I was twisting my wrist in a really bizarre way whilst I was sleeping effectively putting it under constant stress for the night. It stopped when I used a small pillow on my chest to alter the way I was positioned whilst sleeping (I can only sleep on my side which is irritating as I travel a lot on 'planes).

Well. This was my first thought too.

No "sleeping stuff" changed recently. The first morning it happened I presumed I had just slept on my hand funny.

fair play to folks for avoiding the obvious comedy answers, had i seen this earlier i fear i would have been straight in with one.

sharp pain ? - possibly something impinging on a nerve which frees up with mild exercise during the day. soft tissue inflammation which has now resolved ?
