Hi,

I do enough strength and cardio work but have over the years neglected my stretching and flexibility.

I'm looking to introduce some basic stuff to help improve my flexibility. I would like to be able to do this at home and have considered starting yoga or something?

Any recommendations for what I can do?

I would join a yoga club for a term and lean the basics, then just create a routine of stretches that are beneficial

Maybe not even a term, just a couple of 1&1 sessions with a tutor

Yoga is easy to learn off Youtube, but easy to get it slightly wrong without realising and risk overstretching/getting bad habits

I joined a martial arts class and my flexibility improved very quickly.

Youtube has various yoga tutorials, all you need is a mat and some require light weights.

I've been known to follow one of these every once in a while, really should do it more often, I'm 25 and I can get nowhere near my toes!

Getting some 1 on 1 Yoga sounds sensible. I've done martial arts in the past and I don't have time to fit that in with the other activities that I do unfortunately.

I will have a look on YouTube for some videos and see whether or not that works. If anyone has any recommendations that would be appreciated.

Ps I struggle to touch my toes as well !

When I joined a yoga club and the instructor asked me how flexible I was, I said I couldn't do Tuesdays or Fridays.

I started yoga once a week about 18 months ago, it's been a revelation, aged 55 my body has taken a beating from squash / footie and 37 years of weights, the first 3 months were a struggle as my back loosened up, since then back pain has almost disappeared, and I can touch my toes!
Give it a go you won't regret it, but I would suggest some instruction, subtle adjustments of posture can make quite a difference to where you are stretching.

Totally agree on the Yoga. Youtube Sean Vigue for some excellent yoga at all levels.
