Lower back pain cause
Discussion
I've got a couple of specific problems with my back: compressed disc at L5 and three broken vertebrae. I've been doing exercises which have lessened the pain from both of these problems and lifestyle changes have helped as well.
However, I've had lower back pain for some time, maybe three years or so, and this has seen no improvement from the regime change. It's not particularly painful, although it becomes intense on occasion, but it's become more prominent with the easing of sciatica and the other back pain. I had a chat with my physio.
He told me to make a record of everything I do during the day, down to what chairs I sat in, even at coffee shops.
I am married and frequently find myself sitting in my car awaiting the return of my other half. I also don't like just sitting and will normally have a book in the car but sometimes I don't feel like reading. To my rescue came my tablet with sudoku and other such games.
It seemed that whenever I spent more than five minutes tapping the screen when playing, that evening my back would light up.
So I removed all such games from my pad and replaced them with books that I could dip into, such as The Meaning of Liff.
It's been a week since I've had any serious lower back pain.
I'm not suggesting that a tablets are the cause of all problems but that a bit of work on what you do during the day can be useful in establishing cause.
It took just four days for the pain to ease to a level where I can ignore it, certainly during the day.
