Came up yesterday with a slightly painful but itchy area just under my left armpit.

Started itching again this evening and I found the below. Does it look like a bite?

Hot to touch, a lid of different raise pimples and both itchy and painful. Had some antihistamine but doesn't seem to be doing much with the red area growing 50% over the last hour or so...what is it?

A Basil leaf is supposed to give some relief if you don't have normal anti-bite relief smile

I would say not mozzie, I have camped in the Zambezi valley - mozzie central.

Mozzie bites can be mega itchy, but with a single central pimple. Sometimes making an X in the middle of it helped a bit. Not hot, and did not last long.

(Now I am in Scotland, and react far worse the the midge...)

Ah st...

Hate the thought of bedbugs!

Sheets and bedding changed weekly, literally...not happened before now.

Hoping that it'll just go down a little more - still a little hot to touch and as was last night :/

Looks exactly like the mosquito bites I had while in Vietnam.

Only one bite?

(I had similar sort of patches when I changed washing machine powder)

Yeah just the one bite.

Am erring toward it being a mozzie - I am generally quite allergic to them

Seems to have gone down a little now, less hot but still have a big old red/purple blotch on my upper arm

Been near the coast ?
I had similar a few years ago , turned out to be sandfly .
Went away as quick as it appeared but was a bit itchy then swollen and painful for 24hrs , one of the ladies at work gave me some alternative medicine type salve that seemed to do the job .

I hadn't no, I did however use some cream my GF got a while ago for sandflies in Thailand and it seemed to go down a few days later, leaving a mighty bruise. Seems ok now though smile

Go to a pharmacy and ask for the pharmacist. There seems no centre contact point, so; nettle sting? We get theminsect bites here (North Wales), I spray on 'Jungle Formula Insect bite relief', it does some good.
