Quite active as a person; lots of swimming, bits of cycling etc. Decided to start back up doing a few runs to complement fitness training. Used to do it a fair bit last year, 30-45 minutes run. Even the very first run we did I felt alright, bit of soreness but alright.

Did 2.8 miles yesterday to get back into. Now I can't walk. The bottom, outsides of my feet hurt a lot! It was a horrible run, left hip started with some pain about a mile in, knees as usual start getting a bit sore not long after. But the pain in my feet...wow. Never had that before and I'm wearing the same shoes and running the same way!

I googled it, peroneal tendonitis? which you might get from overuse? (at < 3 miles hehe)

Feel like a right chimp hehe hobbling around, crippled after a sub 5k run! laughwobblerofl

I got pain in my feet from running for not using the right trainers. I just wore flat trainers rather than proper running ones, I got fitted for them properly and never had another problem.
Mine was in the arch though.

The three secrets of running are: footwear, footwear, and footwear. biggrin

The knee pain sounds like you are thumping along on your heels, high impact. I discovered - far too late in life - forefoot strike and low drop shoes. Google them and try them. You do need to retrain, 1km a few days apart for a month, as your calves are going to wonder what hit them!

I had this same thing. Couldn't run for about 2 weeks.

After that I changed what I was doing on treadmill - I now put incline to about 6, on a steady pace, and increase the incline rather than speed.
Done this for a few weeks, helped ease me back into running and since then I've been fine.

But I am also concerned over my shoes, like previous poster said ^ and will be buying some decent running shoes soon.

I run on the balls? Of my feet... Not the heel. I am a swimmer and have been for 20 odd years so have done much less of the pounding around on foot over the years (don't play footy or anything like that). Soft joints. So even running like that I get knee pain, though a lot of it feels more like the tendons/ligaments around the knee. Ie sometimes after running bending the knee is uncomfortable.

This is unreal though, it's even worse today. I had to come down the stairs on my arse!

It's not that then!

Maybe try a gait analysis? Though in my experience they are looking for heel strike to sell you some fancy trainers or orthotics; they didn't have any suggestions for me.

My suggestion, to myself, is to just sack off running. Its bad for you!

Stick to cycling hehe

I have a similar issue with the outside of my right foot. Been ongoing for months, but doesn't hurt when I run, just the morning after. Wondered if its bruised but may go and see my doctor as its annoying. haha
