Assessment and Advice for home/mobility issues.
Discussion
My mother is in her late 70's and suffering reduced mobility. Fairly degenerative issues.
I would like to get a professional in to her home, to advise what steps could best be taken, to assist her, in the future.
I guess this is an assessment of my mother AND her house.
I am sure that much of this is common sense, but there will be many factors which I haven't considered or thought of.
I am looking for suggestions of who might provide this assessment. Not looking for a free service and I appreciate that the NHS could assist, but the wait is 8 weeks. Location is Marlow, Bucks.
There is a sense of urgency, as my mother has had 2 falls in the last 10 days and I want to help her as much as is possible.
Thanks.

Second the above, but may be worth contacting the Council Occupational Therapy/Physiotherapy teams, the contact details will be on the local authority website. Also see if there is an Independent Living Centre (ILC or DLC) near they will be able to help, but call in to them rather than phone as they tend to be busy.
If your mum was hospitalised then I would expect the local teams to have been made aware of her already. If she wasn't, then make sure that you mention the falls when you are talking to them.
Good luck. If you want to pm me feel free.

Thanks folks, for the replies.
I have made contact with a local independent OT and looking to progress this angle.
Doctor is aware of the falls, so this should trigger the Local Authority engagement, but I will progress this too.
Have been into a local ILC and bought some handles and picked up some info too.
Looks like I'm on the right track so far.
You advice is much appreciated.
