I remember when I was younger my dad had a small stick of alum which he'd use now and then. It cleans and tingles is good for any small nicks is antiseptic and an astringent.

Recently the other day I had a shave on the street in Delhi, and at the end the guy took out a large chunk of alum and rubbed it all over, it was great, so I asked my local friend to get me a large chunk which I'm waiting on now.

So, old school it may be, anyone use alum when they shave?

Yes, worth having if you shave properly.

I bought a block from Trumpers years ago. Still use it occasionally, especially I nick myself.

I bought mine from the English Shaving Company.

Works well.
