Stuck in a rut
Discussion
Posting under a different user name to usual but:
I really feel like I am stuck in a rut. Since leaving university in 2013 I have been back living at home - until last year my ex and I were saving to buy a place when she finished retraining as a teacher. Obviously that didn't happen!
Since leaving uni I have run a small business and worked sidelines. I've got about 25k saved, disposable assets of maybe another 7 and some inheritance but on my own due to my income etc I would struggle to get a mortgage on my own big enough to get close to buying something in the South East.
My business has grown year on year, which is good, and having a sideline gets me working with other people which is also good.
Don't want to give away too many details of the current sideline but effectively I have not progressed as much as I could have done in the last 4 years due to failing a course. I am absolutely petrified of retaking it and failing again - it's very intense and you only get two shots, if I failed it I would be out. I think failing it the first time was the most difficult thing I have experienced.
At the moment I feel like I have basically done ok but have really been treading water for the last 18months at least.
I applied for a full time job yesterday. I have no particular idea of what I would want to do however.
A big part of me thinks I need to make more radical change to really shake up my situation, perhaps taking a working visa in another country and invest the money until I either relocate somewhere cheaper or find someone to share a life with.
There isn't really a question here it's just been getting me down, I'm sure many others have been through this - what did you do?
